The point of the visit is that every key made before today stops working. This is the order it happens in.

What we ask on the phone
The number of exterior doors, the brands if you know them, and whether the garage and back door should share the front door key.
Proving the home is yours
Proof of address plus photo ID. Landlords are asked for their standing with the property instead.
Rekeying or replacing
In most cases the lock stays and its internals change, so every old key stops working and the hardware you chose stays on the door.
One key, and what else gets checked
One key for the house, with anything you asked to stay separate kept separate. The screws holding the strike get replaced with longer ones where they are short.
